 Real Name Chris White

Music Style I produce a wide range of styles from uplifting to dark, slow to fast, both armchair and dance floor orientated. In fact, whatever I feel like making at the time really! I don't think that any two of my tracks sound all that similar?

Musical Influences I wouldn't claim to sound like any of these, but here are some of my favourite artists: Gordon Matthewman (Edge Records), Michael Wells (Rabbit City Records), Acen, Red Alert & Slammer, Beltram, Frank De Wulf, Hyper on Experience, N-Joi, Altern 8, Intense. I'm into a lot of 1991 Belgian hardcore, and I get quite fussy as to what I listen to from 1993 and beyond. I can't stand the Naughty Naughty series!

 Similar Artists I've no idea!

Artist history I used to play the piano, and then I took up the clarinet to join an orchestra. I started messing around with MOD editors back in 1993. I don't produce a lot of material, but I try to put a lot of effort into each of my tracks. Once university is over, I'll get a proper studio setup, but right now I just don't have the space, so I'm stuck with Fasttracker! I don't even own a keyboard at the moment, so I work out the melody in my head and transfer it note by note!

Overdrive
A superbly crafted slice of 91/92 action. Great samples throughout, including a very Snap (remember them?!) stab, some lovely strings that remind me of an old Mental Cube tune, and perfect use of Belgium's finest export since Stella - the classic T99 stab.  Nice breaks throughout, some great overlaying of harder edged beats when necessary.  Easily my favourite on the EP, and I can't wait to hear someone drop it someplace LOUD!

I'm still running
Everytime I hear the first 8 bars or so I think of Roni Size sat behind a drumkit on TOTP or summat. Starts with some very live sounding drums, then drops semi spooky strings and a vocal that sounds like it was recorded ten feet away from the mic. Nice synth & piano use in this one, probably the best structured tune on the EP actually. Chris then does an Acen, dropping James Bond snippets in.

Mix A2 (Be One Remix)
Pure 91. Could have been played at the Eclipse, Shelleys, Entropy or any number of midlands clubs that didn't play all that Southern jungle crap.  Of all the tunes on the EP, this is the one that has the most authentic feel - to the point where if played out, I couldn't have said whether it was old or new. Class.

Beyond my Dreams
I'm never sure what to think about this. Some great samples, a lovely piano and some nice mixing, but still doesn't grab me. The Snowman sections actually turn me off the tune, smacks too much of the kiddy hardcore stuff that was churned out late 92. A shame, because I think the potential in the tune is never reached. On listening while I write this, there's a portion of the tune (about 3/5 of the way through) that sounds like the real tune trying to get out.
